Writer and Director Alishah Ahmad decided to make the very personal experimental short film, Azadi (آزادی – Āzādī, from Persian, meaning freedom or liberty.) She is a lover of watching vulnerability in art and decided the story she could tell the best was her own. Through a mixture of recorded monologues, archived footage and live-action sequences, she tells the soul-bearing story of a South Asian girl’s journey through marriage and divorce.
